Routing Runoff Away from Your Foundation
Gutter downspouts are usually located very close to the house and can cause problems if the soil next to the house is not graded properly. Storm water exits the downspout and pools next to the foundation and will cause problems. An underground drain line connected to the downspout can often solve this problem.
When the downspouts are tied into a drain line, the water will be carried away from the home. Often these downspout tie-ins are tied directly into an existing drain line, a retention basin, or just far enough away from the house that erosion and wet ground are no longer an issue.
